weekending

There was some hiking, some pizza, and some bike riding.  Poor Gesso woke up with the weirdest eye infection and didn't come along.  We felt super guilty the whole hike--we haven't left him home since he was a little puppy!  He's all better now, thank goodness.

other thoughts:

::  I finally gave in and bought some maternity jeans... and let me tell you something: I think the world would be a much better place if everyone traded in their constricting waist bands for stretchy maternity pants.   So comfortable!

::  I found out yesterday that my family is coming for a surprise visit this weekend--yippee!

::  This has been the warmest fall I can remember and I am kind of over it.  Every morning is like groundhogs day--I wake up thinking it's going to feel like fall, but it's still 80 degrees and sunny.  I keep over-dressing because deep down I know it's supposed to be fall, but it's pretty much still summer.

weekending

After witnessing last weekend eaten up by home projects (again), I decided that it was time to make some changes.  Because you see, all work and no play not only makes Holly dull, but also pretty cranky.  So now there are some pretty serious rules in place that every other weekend is to be spent doing fun things.

So this weekend I tore my irrigation engineer away from the sprinkler system, and goshdarnit, we had ourselves some FUN.

We went to dinner at a friends house and came home with an alarming amount of produce.  My favorite part would have to be all those juicy raspberries.  Don't worry, I sent that bucket back full of cookies--I'm secretly hoping to establish a symbiotic relationship.

We also played in the mountains.

And then there were milkshakes.

our february weekends

We haven't been skiing much this winter.  Aside from the snow conditions being a little dangerous (hello avalanche!), and the warm winter we've had, we are just a little burnt-out on making the big drive to the mountains.  So we have spent most of our Saturdays in the foothills just outside of town.  And even though it's hard to compete with snow-capped peaks, these rolling hills are really growing on me.  The sky seems so big and it makes me hope I always live in a place with wide open spaces.  They make me feel good.

Weekending

This past weekend, our little corner of the world was experiencing a major heat wave (Fall, where did you go?).  And so we got out of there as fast as we could and spent a few days in the Spanish Peaks (which, disappointingly, were not in Spain).  It was PERFECT weather and we had the place all to ourselves.  Somebody forgot the sunscreen (okay, it was me), and so we showed up at church looking like pieces of fried chicken.  But really, it was a small price to pay for a lovely mountain visit.

Weekend Report

*Shooting Star (look familiar?)

* Prairie Crocus

Before moving here, I was pretty sure Montana was all huckleberries and mountains (it's not).  And this past weekend, instead of driving west to the mountains, we drove east to Steamboat Butte.  It was so lovely and we even saw some wildflowers!

And on the ride home, we concluded that it's ridiculously easy to get a good cloud photo in Montana.  Because the clouds here are amazing.
