Oh hollyhox.
We had a good run, didn't we?
Sometimes I'll be searching for an old recipe or wondering how I made a certain craft, and I'll riffle through my blog archives to find it.
It usually surprises me, because it's hard to remember what life was like, back when I had endless time and energy. I remember planning fun things I could make to post on the blog--it Holly Hoxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16758274577294225128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7748751492420106488.post-34110839180306449482015-04-09T22:10:00.001-06:002015-04-10T16:43:24.618-06:00spring delights
oh me oh my I love April. I have been enjoying a slower pace the past few weeks and it's been weird and delightful. I was working like a mad woman to prepare for the art shows and I was feeling a little burned out. I ran out of panels and made the decision to not order more for a few weeks. I've been using my free time to catch up on house projects and read books Holly Hoxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16758274577294225128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7748751492420106488.post-78891102383502338692015-03-11T17:04:00.001-06:002015-03-11T17:04:48.191-06:00the olive.
Almost three weeks ago I put a bunch of paintings at the Olive. The next Sunday night was an artists reception. There was all sorts of fancy cheese and grapes and a wine glass full of water for me. Some of the cheese smelled like a damp basement. But some of it was good! And I woke up with a cheese hangover the next morning (those happen in your stomach...ouch). ^^ Harvey is playing the harmonica here. It was very soulful.
My baby turned two last month and my husband turned thirty two. When did we start getting to be such old people? They were both royally spoiled--I even made Evan this ice-cream-cake-roll and, dude, filled with mint cookie ice cream, it's pretty super duper.

....are ya listening?
It's been terribly gloomy in Walla Walla the past month, and I've been trying really hard to embrace it. Last week the sun came out one morning and I totally cried on the way to the park. You guys. I can't help but be a total diva about the weather here. whine whine whiiiiiiinnnnne.

So much good happening this autumn I can barely stand it. I have been so inspired by the good colors and I still can't get over all the Larch Trees we've seen. How come no one ever told me about those? I'm a fan.
Anyway, stay cool.

Hello? Hellllooooo? Gosh, I have so much to say, and I don't even know where to begin. I've been painting so much lately and it's been so so good for my soul. I've been updating my website (most everything new is in the food section. Yes, I really do love food that much.) if you want to see all the fruits of my labor.
I had Holly Hoxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16758274577294225128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7748751492420106488.post-74452110206835021102014-08-19T22:46:00.000-06:002014-08-19T22:46:51.705-06:00summer breeze
I keep thinking of things I should post on my blog and then weeks go by and I realize I've never actually posted anything at all! Whoops. Here is a smattering of photos of the good parts of our summer so far. We've tried to stuff it full of outside time and adventures.
^^ I'm getting pretty fast at making bowties these days.... and so far Harvey keeps them on! I have recently been reading interviews from different women, and there is always a question near the end of the interview that goes: I wish someone had told me___________________

I wasn't in a hurry to make Harvey a baby blanket. I mean, yes, I'd made him like 10 baby blankets, but not his baby blanket. You know, that was quilted and special.
Well, my mom was feeling bad for her only grandbaby, and so she surprised us with one! It's so cute and it's the perfect colors (I'm just assuming he will love deep greens and blues as much as his mama :) .

Oh man, Spring here comes early and is amazing! Although I feel like we totally earn it after months of no sunshine at all. It's a pretty nice reward.
The tree tunnel on our street is filling out! Can I get a hooooo-ray?! It's my favorite part about where we live. It makes our ordinary suburban cul-de-sac feel really special.

Last March I started painting again.
After experiencing my first northwest winter and not seeing much besides fog or heavy fog for way too long, I couldn't help myself when Spring came and the sun and puffy clouds came out with it. I have sooo many pictures of the clouds from last spring! It's really funny for me to look back on them again -- it was like I was afraid Holly Hoxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16758274577294225128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7748751492420106488.post-62501761541496327612014-03-04T20:08:00.000-07:002014-03-04T20:08:49.592-07:00February Statistics
I spent 50% of February being sick, and it seems like whenever I'm sick I daydream about all the things I would be doing if I was healthy. And then once I get healthy, I DO THEM. It's really pretty motivational. So every other week was spent being productive.
I (re)painted our room! And since the sun came out about 5% of the time in February, I decided to go with a moody Holly Hoxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16758274577294225128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7748751492420106488.post-28928377922209566042014-02-04T20:22:00.001-07:002014-02-04T20:22:18.080-07:00Pizelle's for President
You know that book that talks about the different "love languages"? Either you feel loved by getting presents, showered with compliments, or or or, and so on. I think there are like five of them? Happy New Year!
I didn't make many Christmas gifts this year, but I did manage to make this clock and I think it's pretty hilarious. It's for Tosh, Gesso's puppy cousin, and I made it using a tutorial I found here. It was actually really simple to make and I'm really excited to add "clock maker" to my resume!

Hi HI HI!!! How are you guys?
Did you have a nice autumn?
We certainly did.
Harvey was a bumblebee for Halloween, I was red riding hood, and Evan was himself.
After experiencing my second apple harvest in washington this fall, I bought one of these fancy peeler, slicer, corer contraptions. It's changed my life. October is our favorite time to visit the deserts of southern Utah. It is amazing and perfect and just really the best time to go. We've been missing it especially this year, which is sad because we live so far away.

You remember Father's Day? Back in June? Ahem. Trying to play catch up around here!
Sometimes I think I have an advanced sense of humor. I often find myself having to explain my hilarious jokes to those around me, because they are just not clever enough to figure it out on their own....
Really I'm just super weird. Nothing advanced happening over here!

We had heard rumors of wild huckleberries growing in our local mountains and over the weekend we decided to do a little foraging.
And wouldn't ya know it, we found ourselves a giant blueberry field! p.s. I'm not sure why we were so surprised...they are called the Blue Mountains afterall!
They were so tiny and delicious and I was not mad about the lack of huckleberries at Holly Hoxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16758274577294225128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7748751492420106488.post-60432835821755185752013-08-12T13:22:00.000-06:002013-08-12T13:22:09.311-06:00in the summertime
Oops. Has it really been that long since I last posted?
We've been a little busy over here.
I try not to play favorites with the seasons (remember?). I really do like them equally.
We've traveled far and wide, soaking up every bit of sunshine before winter comes and the sun goes into hibernation again. Evan's parents came to town last week (hooray!), and so we did ourselves a little bit of toursiting. I had really been wanting to visit a lavender farm, and so we did (I'm a selfless hostess, no?)
I can't even begin to describe how amazing it smelled there!
