Twinkie time!

I made Twinkies.

Also, I have my own photographer now, isn't that great?

It started out innocently enough. You see, I had just recently discovered that you could buy Twinkie molds on the inter-web...and I decided that I couldn't go on without one. The week before Christmas, Evan and I were lounging on the couch, chatting about politics and such. I just happened to have the computer on my lap, and was looking at said twinkie mold. I started reading the reviews: " My sister loves to bake and yesterday she showed up at our family BBQ with Devil Dogs, and Twinkies. She was the hit of the party!!!" or "I should have bought this sooner!" I guess I was reading them out loud. Probably on accident.

And guess what I got for Christmas from sweet Evan? Yes! The Twinkie mold! I love a man who has respect for baking. And fancy bake-ware.

It even came with a "cream injector" which looked an awful lot like an over-sized insulin syringe. Let's just hope that's a coincidence.

They were good. I have a feeling this might be "the winter of Twinkies", which will probably be followed by "summer of weight-watchers". Oh well.

A rainbow in December

Don't you just love books?

A couple of moves ago, I rearranged all the colorful books into rainbow order. Being a visual person, it is so easy for me to remember the color of the book I want, and so placing them this way made perfect sense. Plus, it's awful pretty.

This morning as we were sitting in the sunny living room, I was going on and on about how much I loved books. I was going into all sorts of details about how I need more books, and what kinds of books and blah blah blah...and then Evan said "oh well, it's a good thing I got you a Kindle for Christmas then." My jaw dropped in speechless horror. He was joking though.

And now he knows we don't joke about Kindles in this house. Especially right in front of the books.

Packin' it up

Isn't moving awesome? I just love it. Actually I really really hate it. It makes me a little bit stressed- out-crazy and I throw away a lot of stuff just because I don't want to pack it.
But we are getting everything done. Actually, as I type, Evan is in the basement, packing up his manly-man power tools. He doesn't really mind or know that I'm not packing right now.

Even the plants are ready. They are just sitting in a neat little line by the door, ready to go.
We're excited though. This is a good move for us. I'm excited to spend more time with Evan and be near my family for a while.

And in case I'm not back soon, ya know, because I'll be unpacking...

Merry Christmas!

Good Bye Farmhouse (sniff)

We're moving on Friday.

I'm sometimes sentimental about things. Actually about pretty much everything. I'm really going to miss our little farmhouse. It has been so good to us. I'm going to miss the yellow walls.

I'm going to miss sitting on this couch and looking out the window. I'm going to miss the scratched wood floors. They were rustic.

See that stove? The one in the corner? I'm going to miss sitting in front of it and eating my cereal. Good bye farmhouse.
