"It-breaks-into-small-pieces" is what the Cree name pipsisikweu means, because the Pipsissewa's leathery evergreen leaves contain a substance that was supposed to dissolve kidney stones. (It does not, in fact.)
Another small fact: Pipsissewa is also sometimes referred to as "Ground Holly". I know! I love it. Dear Parents, thank you for naming me after a plant.
And it's much easier to pronounce. So that's what I'm gonna call it.
